2nd. Friday Art Walk
The 2ndFriday Artwalk is will be taking place in Carrboro and Chapel Hill on Friday evening, September 10th, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Many of the galleries will have live music and other art related entertainment. Admission is free.

Over a decade old, the 2ndFriday Artwalk continues to grow and draw community involvement and national interest. This popular once-a-month event brings residents and visitors from all over the Triangle who enjoy the opportunity to see a large variety of artwork during a single evening while socializing with their fellow art lovers.

Coinciding with the grand-reopening of the Artery, our exhibition will display works in a variety of media which explore both the tangible as well as metaphysical places that we inhabit at this moment as artists, and the timeline of processes which have been discovered along the way.

A TRIBUTE TO ANCIENT SEA MONSTERS" - Ash Lindner, curator of deep sea alien fauna, returns with a new series exploring prehistoric sea creatures! She is also featuring her series of vibrant sea slugs. A dinosaur encounter is very likely!

- 406 E Main St., Carrboro, 919.942.3102. The Peru Project is the project of Kyla and Renata McConnell to promote literacy, education and the arts in the rural Andes Mountains of Peru. There will be a silent auction to benefit this project with many donors from the community displaying their work.



FRANK FRANK109 E Franklin Street, Chapel Hill, 919.636.4135. In September FRANK will host its first North Carolina Clay Invitational, featuring the work of over 30 of the state’s best-known ceramic artists. Every type of work, from functional pottery to sculpture, will be represented by artists such as b>Mark Hewitt, Nick Joerling, Cynthia Bringle, Holly Fisher, and Mary-Ann Prack. The Opening will be from 7-9 pm on Friday, September 10, and the show will be up through October 24. FRANK’S TGI Thursday Salons during the period of the show’s run will feature talks by clay artists and will highlight the rich heritage of clay art in our state.

July was our 5 year anniversary and we are celebrating 5 years of supporting local music. We've got some great posters by local artists: Ron Liberti, Matt Hart, and Chris Williams, plus others. We'll have some refreshments available as well as great vintage and local fashion. September also begins our month long DIY Sale, all of those great items that just need a little extra love will be hitting the floor! And we'll be featuring all of our local artists who remake and up-cycle clothing and jewelry.

Kristen Lineberger - The Doily - A handmade and traditional process was used to create these prints on paper, yet the doilies used are a material mimicry of the original. They are mass produced paper cut outs that emulate the forgotten forms of Victorian ornamentation. Taking away the standard representation can reveal the simplicity of the form, and the beauty in the balance of absense and addition.

Rachel relies on her innate sense of balance and color to create jewelry that gracefully adorns. His photographs of the village document an untold story of hope and resiliency that defines these migrant workers' lives. Visit the Gallery at UNC's Student Union through September 2010 to see this hidden corner of Beijing in a special exhibit supported in part by the Phillips Ambassadors Scholarship Program.

In 1992, Moise Emquies was a law school graduate waiting for the results of his California bar exam when his friend invited him to pass the time by designing a t-shirt for her clothing store. He threw himself into the project, quickly educating himself on textiles in search of the perfect rayon t-shirt on which to put his design.
